WITH THE AK PARTY GOVERNMENT, THE STATE LEARNED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEMS OF HER CITIZENS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, speaking at the first 2010 meeting of the District Consultative Committee of AK Party held in Besiktas, furnished information on the EU accession process and other issues on the agenda.

Bagis said that the government, on the one hand, struggled against those who wanted the state to be governed by gangs as in the past and on the other hand declared the foreign forces that they would not be able to stop Turkey on its journey of development. Bagis indicated that 2011 would be a turning point for Turkey and he continued: "If you fall into the error of not making plans you would be planning to make mistakes."

Indicating that though there were people in Europe with limited vision who did not want Turkey to be an EU member state, Turkey had also many friends supporting its membership, Bagis said in the upcoming ten years Turkey would not only be one of the ten greatest economies of the world but the passport of the Turkish Republic would be one of the most valued passports in the world as well.

In the inauguration ceremony of the restored Muhsin Ertugrul Theatre of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres, Bagis pointing to the speech of the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said:

"The Prime minister made another historically important speech in the inauguration. I want all my friends from Besiktas organisation to repeat this speech to all Besiktas people any time they meet one until 2011. It should be shared with every person in Besiktas.

Mr. President, maybe for the fiftieth or for the hundredth times, told once again that AK Party did not have a problem with the way of life of anybody. However, some impertinent people tried to present AK Party as if it had problems with the citizens and dared to make campaigns here against us as if they were the guards of democracy and the republic. In Turkey the assurance of democracy and the republic and also the principles of Ataturk is AK Party."

Bagis, indicating that the state learned to pay attention to the problems of the citizens with the AK party government said: "The state for the first time gave ear to its Kurdish citizens. The state for the first time listened to its Alawite citizens, Greek and Armenian citizens and women and workers."
