WHEN A GRINDSTONE FINDS NOTHING TO GRIND, IT GRINDS ITSELF

Receiving Turgay Avci, the Chairman of the Freedom and Reform Party (ORP), Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis made a press statement and expressed that those who try to interfere with the internal politics of Turkey and bring Turkey into disorder on the basis of Cyprus will always be disappointed as always.

Making a statement to the press before the bilateral meeting held in the Ortakoy Office of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs (EUSG), Minister Bagis stated that Turgay Avci, former Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, put so much effort into TRNC's expanding to Europe.

Expressing that there were some circles in TRNC who were in a kind of negative efforts, Minister Bagis said:

"There is a nice saying in Anatolia, 'If grain in the mill is over, it starts to grind its own grinding stone.' That is to say, those who try to interfere with the internal politics of Turkey and bring Turkey into disorder on the basis of Cyprus will always be disappointed.

"The policy maintained by our Prime Minister since 2002 is a rational one based on the 'win-win' formula. This successful policy has changed the view, the negative view of the world for TRNC without losing even one pebble stone. I am proud to be included in such a policy. As a matter of fact, TRNC was to blame for the deadlock in Cyprus before but from now on the whole world accepts that the Greek Cypriots obstruct the solution rather than TRNC. This wasn't an easy job. Turkey has made serious self-sacrifices in line with this purpose.

Clever strategies of the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan have stood behind this. The determination and peaceful approach we have maintained both before and after the Annan Plan clearly put forward TRNC's and Turkey's stance promoting the solution of the Cyprus issue and cohabitation.

The efforts of those who want to sow discord between TRNC and Turkey will come to naught in the end."
