WE SHOULD ALL COLLABORATE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR LAND"

In Siirt, where Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis went to hold official talks, he was welcomed by the Governor of Siirt, Necati Senturk; Siirt AK Party Representatives, Afif Demirkiran and Yilmaz Helvacioglu; the Mayor, Selim Sadak; and by the other authorities.

In his speech to the Party's supporters at the AK Party provincial building, Bagis stated that Turkey was in a renewal process and progressing rapidly to reach the level of contemporary civilizations. Bagis also declared that the number of people traveling by air used to be 6 million annually but nowadays it increased to 50 million.

Bagis added: "Now, travelling with plane is not exclusive only to a specific section of the society. It has become a travelling trend accessible to everyone. High-speed train projects, new dams, new forestation projects, and on the other hand fight against illegal organisations… Now everybody is well aware that the State cannot be governed by the gangs. All the gangs, which once nobody wanted to tackle with; now face with the State of law and justice, standing before them. Turkey is a country which reached the European standards in every field. Turkey continues its progress; it takes a step in each field every day."

Bagis declared that they were courageously clamping down the most important problems of Turkey. He added: "Still, we are the only hope of this nation. We have the responsibility and the duty to overcome the problems that could not be solved for years, and centuries. Therefore, we want to clamp down the problems courageously, and without getting bored or weary."

Bagis said: "We are committed to be the one bringing the nation together, not dividing. We set off for the national solidarity project and we are determined to realize a democratic initiative."

Later on, in Siirt Highschool Bagis inaugurated the computer lab established by the businessman, Ethem Sancak. Then, Bagis attended the mevlid ceremony organized in the Hadji Abdulhakim Sancak Mosque for the sake of his father, Abdullah Bagis.

Visiting the Mayor, Selim Sadak in his office, Bagis declared that Turkey had entered a new process. Bagis also stated that Turkey was an outstanding State and had a great heritage. Bagis added: "For centuries we lived together brotherly with the Kurdish, the Laz, the Armenian, the Circassian and the Syrian people. Everybody witnessed that nobody had the power to divide our country." He continued:

"However, we should all collaborate for the development of our land. We are entering a new process in Turkey. Hopefully in this process, we will learn to listen and try to understand each other. We will also try to solve our common problems. We will accept the problem of the other as our own problem. We will concentrate on the ways to develop our country. We will work for this aim. Ensuring high standards and the welfare of our country are our priorities. It is important that we realize and sustain this. Why our citizens would not live in the European or American standards and experience the same democracy? Why they would not have the same economic power and live in the same atmosphere?
