WE NEVER FORGET GERMANY’S SUPPORT IN TURKEY’S EU BID

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the opening ceremony of the elephant monument which German Hamm Metropolitan Municipality presented to Bagcilar Municipality.

Bagis delivered a speech at the ceremony and stated that Hamm Municipality displayed an exemplary behaviour and this monument was a symbol of Turkish-German friendship. Bagis said: “Turkey continues the negotiation process with the understanding of not being a burden to Europe but sharing the burden of Europe with its own power and values in the EU accession process.”

Bagis reminded that Turkey opened 3 chapters to negotiations during the presidency of Germany and continued his speech as follows:

“This monument (elephant) will indicate that Turkey will not be the squeezed grass on which the elephants stomp in Europe. For Turkey continues the negotiation process with the understanding of not being a burden to Europe but sharing the burden of Europe with its own power and values in the EU accession process. Today Turkey is on the way of being one of the most important actors of the EU with its young and dynamic population, geostrategic proximity to energy resources, most powerful army in Europe and wide variety of vegetation which is richer than the total vegetation variety of 27 countries in Europe. We never forget Germany’s support in Tukey’s EU accession process.”

Bagis indicated that such visionary people attached importance to dialogue but some others with a crooked mentality were trying to ban circumcision in Germany, the cradle of democracy. Bagis stated that he was sure that the Supreme Court in Germany would return that ruling which disturbed both Muslims and Jews.
