WE ARE PROUD OF MEVLUT CAVUSOGLU
President of the Parliamentarian Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Cavusoglu paid a visit to Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis in his office at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs.
In the meeting, Bagis reminded that they were together with Cavusoglu when he was elected to the Presidency of PACE and said: "We were also there and witnessed that historical event. The speech he delivered didn't only affect us, but the representatives of 47 countries present."
Stating that Cavusoglu was a Turkish politician elected to the Presidency of one of the most sensitive institutions of Europe, Egemen Bagis said "Cavusoglu achieved a success that citizens of the Republic of Turkey should be proud of."
Bagis pointed that Cavusoglu was the first Turk, Muslim President of PACE, who was elected from east of Vienna and that it was an important indicator that Turkey was closely monitored by the whole world.
In his speech, Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Egemen Bagis was working hard to enable Turkey to be a member of the EU and thanked him for his efforts and said: "Turkey's reforms and its active foreign policy have made things easier for us in the Council of Europe."
Stating that Bagis has been taking his side since the beginning of the process, Cavusoglu said that Bagis made important contributions in changing the negative approach of some countries to a positive one.
