UNITY AND SOLIDAIRTY ARE OUR MOST SIGNIFICANT SHIELDS AGAINST THE PROBLEMS
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the 12th International Side Culture and Arts Festival at the Side Antique Theater and gave the message of unity and solidarity.
Bagis emphasized that by organizing this festival, Side met the expectations arising from its thousand-year-old history and tradition. He mentioned that Side meant “Pomegranate” in the language of ancient Anatolia and stated that pomegranate represented richness and abundance in the Turkish culture.
In his speech, Bagis also referred to the EU process and indicated that the EU was the most comprehensive peace project of the history of humanity.
Furthermore, thanking AK Party Antalya Deputy Mevlut Cavusoglu who made remarkable contributions to Side, Bagis said: “The election of Mr. Cavusoglu as the President of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly is the most important diplomatic success of the history of the Republic. He is the youngest, the first Turkish, the first Muslim parliamentarian and more importantly, the first parliamentarian who was elected from the east of Vienna.”
Stating that the EU was indeed the most comprehensive peace project of the history of humanity, Bagis continued his words as follows:
“Nevertheless there may be some persons who attempt to show approaches with a crooked mentality. Different cultures, civilizations and beliefs coexisted in Side for thousands of years, and this richness is still a source of pride. Accordingly, we, as Turkey, has been chasing those enemies of peace with a crooked mentality by saying “Get lost, kid” because it lies in the genetic code and culture of Turkish people- from Side, Manavgat, Antalya to Mardin, Urfa, Hatay and Bursa and throughout Turkey- to have the feelings of unity, solidarity and brotherhood. May God protect our country from evil eyes.”
During his visit to AK Party Manavgat District Organization, Bagis also touched upon the regional issues and said: “There is a Turkey which is endeavoring to resolve these issues. As the custodians and grandchildren of such ancestors who reached out to our brothers in Syria, Arakan, Gaza, Sudan and Somali and in the past, in India and Pakistan, we will do what is necessary. I believe that Turkey will be one of the most powerful 10 countries of the world in the next 10 years. Unity and solidarity are our most significant shields against our problems like in the trouble of terrorism.
