"TURKISH LOCAL MEDIA ON THE EU PATH" PROJECT STARTS
"Turkish Local Media on the EU Path" Project which will be carried out with the cooperation of the Secretariat General for EU Affairs (EUSG) and the British Foreign Ministry was officially introduced with the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding and by a ceremony organized under the auspices of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis.
Following the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding by the Deputy Secretary General and Ambassador Haluk Ilıcak on behalf of EUSG and British Ambassador to Turkey David Reddaway on behalf of Britain, the first of the regional information seminars to be held in ten provinces of Turkey was realized in Istanbul.
Making statements at the signature ceremony and reception held in the EUSG Ortakoy Office, Bagis said that regional information seminars would be held in 10 provinces as part of that project. Reminding that the EU process had an impact on every part of the life, namely from the standards for democracy to the standards of the products which our people consumed, Bagis said: "The EU means an advanced democracy, a fairer order, a more transparent and developed society. Although some people oppose the membership of Turkey to the EU, the number of Turkey's friends such as Britain is higher than those who wish to prevent our membership. Bagis stated that the master mind of the EU was Ataturk and he mentioned the need for such a union thirty years ago".
As part of these regional information seminars to be held in 10 provinces, the EUSG will explain our EU accession process, the impacts / benefits of the activities on our daily lives throughout this period, the projects and the programs for the media to the representatives of local media at first hand. The experts from the EU will also attend these seminars and the participants will be informed about how to follow the EU process more consciously and closely.
