"TURKEY STANDS TALL BEHIND CYPRUS"

The 17th ordinary congress of (UBP) National Unity Party, the main opposition party in TRNC, was held in Nicosia Ataturk Gym.

AK Party Vice-Chairman Egemen Bagis and AK Party Antalya Deputy Mevlüt Cavusoglu gave a speech at the congress where TRNC governmental representative Minister of Internal Affairs Ozkan Murat and Chairman of Democrat Party Serdar Denktas attended. Also, TRNC President Mehmet Ali Talat, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek sent messages to the congress.

AK Party Vice Chairman Egemen Bagis stated in his speech that: "today it's an important day in Turkey on behalf of the AK Party, an important meeting was held in Kizilcahamam for the party, nevertheless by the request of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, we attended the ordinary congress of UBP".

Bagis affirmed that; TRNC is a national cause of the Turkish People, and they will continue to adopt it. Bagis said: "Turkey stands tall behind Cyprus and we want both Cypriot Turks and Cypriot Greeks to know it."

Bagis said that they want equal, permanent solution based on a win-win formula, they do not want to be unfair to Greeks, but also they will not let being unfair to Cypriot Turks.

Bagis said "For a better future, there is no stopping, continue on the road" and wished good luck to democracy of TRNC on the results of congress.

AK Party Antalya Deputy, Mevlut Cavusoglu repeated their support to TRNC and wished UBP to conclude with unity and cooperation from the result of congress.

Cavusoglu emphasized that they continue to work together for the development of TRNC, and expressed that they work heavily to revoke of embargos for TRNC, including the direct flights. He also stated that they stand at the same distance to all parties in TRNC.
