TURKEY SHINING STAR OF THE ISLAMIC WORLD
Attending the Ramadan-related activities in Istanbul organised by Bahcelievler Municipality, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that they were feeling the pleasure of Ramadan in a developing and growing Turkey.
Indicating that the European countries envied Turkey, Minister Bagis said that many countries sought to catch up with Turkey’s momentum of development.
Minister Bagis stated that Istanbul was one of the cities in which Ramadan is lived in the best way and he continued his words as follows:
“You can see Mardin, Trabzon, Eskişehir, Artvin, Kayseri and İzmir gathered around the same table during an iftar dinner in Istanbul. It is also possible to see Sarajevo, Cairo, Pristine and Damascus together in Istanbul. Thank God that Turkey is at a different position now; we have achieved this with your support. We achieve both economic and social development together with you and through your support.”
Minister Bagis stated that they set big targets for not only 2023 but also for 2053 which is the 600th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul and for 2071 which is the 1000th anniversary of Turks’ entering Anatolia.
Referring to those who cannot enjoy the happiness of Ramadan Minister Bagis said, “There are our brothers in Syria, Egypt, Gaza, Arakan (Rakhine) who cannot enjoy this pleasure. May Allah lend our brothers living in hard conditions all over the world, support, ease, strength and patience. I hope they will overcome their problems.”
Minister Bagis underlined that the approach “setting a brother against the other” which is tried to be realised in Turkey was being realised in Egypt and said that Turkey is the shining star of the Islamic world.
