THE ECONOMIES OF THE COUNTRIES THAT HAVE EARNESTLY ADOPTED DEMOCRACY ARE IMPROVING

Speaking at the "Summit of Exporters in the EU Process" organized by the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) and Exporters' Association; Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Bagis stated that there was no poor democracy in the world and noted that improvement is seen in the economies of the countries which had adopted democracy earnestly and become a state of law.

Stating that the EU may be too bureaucratic with its acquis composed of 110 thousand pages, Bagis said that the EU, however, is a union of values based on common ground.

Egemen Bagis stressed: "You are the ones that we should closely cooperate with in order to enable Turkey to reach those standards and accomplish the position it deserves in the EU process. In order to render Turkey stronger, we should feature exportation. Exportation is a vision, not only for the businessman but also for the countries. No one can expect an entrepreneur without a vision to think of exportation and countries without a vision cannot aim to increase its exportation.'

Bagis declared that in their government, they achieved a 7-fold increase in the Turkey's exportation in 7 years and this was the result of the common vision of the businessmen and the government. Bagis stated that Turkey developed seriously thanks to this.

Emphasizing that exportation became an issue at the agenda of not only a limited number of provinces but all of the 81 provinces; Bagis stated that Turkey was in a period that all of its provinces were exporting.

In his speech, Bagis also mentioned the Customs Union and noted the increase in the foreign investment and its contribution to creation of new employment opportunities. Bagis also pointed that everything was not perfect; there might be some points to be revised in the Customs Union.
