THE CONTENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PACKAGE SHOULD BE EXPLAINED

Participating the iftar held by the AK Party's Sariyer Subprovincial Organization in a restaurant, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis expressed in his speech that the opposition parties gave no information to citizens while making "no" campaign. Bagis also said that what the politicians should do is to tell people why they had to say "yes" or "no".

Indicating that they resorted the constitutional amendment package to the referendum for paving the way for Turkey, Bagis continued as follows:

"We said that we would reduce the works of the Supreme Council of Judges and Public Prosecutors. We would increase the number of members; they would make a decision easily. We wanted the Supreme Council of Judges and Public Prosecutors to be more transparent. The opposition do not want this and they don't explain this change in the constitutional amendment package to people."

Indicating that the opposition tried to threat people from the Constitution, Bagis said "We say that we made ‘a positive discrimination' but for whom we wanted this positive discrimination; for our women, veterans, martyrs' relatives and handicapped. We make a constitutional amendment for making a positive discrimination."

Bagis noted that there is a "blacklisting" notion in Turkey but no one had the right to blacklist other people and they wanted to change the Constitution in order to prevent blacklisting.
