ROJ TV SHOULD BE PUT OFF-AIR
During a meeting with Ole Egberg Mikkelsen, the Danish Ambassador to Turkey, Egemen Bagis, Minister For EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator said that Turkish citizens were closely monitoring the ROJ-TV issue." and he added: "It really upsets us to see an ally like Denmark still allowing the broadcasts of ROJ-TV".
Upon receiving the Ambassador Mikkelsen, whose term of office has expired, in the Ministry of European Union in Ankara, Bagis said:
"When the Ambassador first started his term of office, I received him here and we discussed about the same issue and it really upsets me to be still talking about this very subject during his farewell visit."
Stating that Denmark was not an alien country to Turkey and both countries were NATO allies, Minister Bagis indicated that in the event of trouble, protecting one another was a requirement of NATO membership.
Wishing for the judicial process to come to a conclusion as soon as possible, Bagis said:
"PKK is not only a terrorist organization. PKK is also a network of unearned income. Today, PKK is not only firing guns to our soldiers, to our youngsters and killing our people with bullets but also poisoning and killing European youth with drugs and that makes PKK a problem for the Europeans just as much as it is for us."
