    PRESIDENT ABDULLAH GUL MADE CONTACTS IN PRAGUE

    President Abdullah Gul paid an official visit to Prague, the capital city of Czech Republic. Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and a delegation accompanied the President.

    Within the framework his contacts in Prague, President Gul came together with Vaclav Claus, the President of the Czech Republic both at a private meeting and with the participation of delegations. President Gul and Czech President Vaclav Claus attended Turkish-Czech Business Council meeting. President Gul also attended the complimentary dinner given by Mirek Topolanek, the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, in honour of him and visited the unknown soldier tomb which had been constructed in memory of the soldiers died in World War II. Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis and Mustafa İsen, the Secretary General of the Turkish Presidency, also attended the ceremony.

    In the meetings where issues such as commerce, investments, energy and tourism were discussed, Turkey's membership process to the EU was also assessed comprehensively. President Gul, in his press conference, stated that they believed Czech Republic would be in close cooperation with Turkey during the negotiation process.
