OUR PEOPLE WANT BROTHER HOOD
Regarding the solution process on the Kurdish issue, Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator said, “Our people want to produce together, work together and be stakeholders, not enemies.”
Replying to the questions regarding the agenda during a live-broadcast on Beyaz TV, Minister Bagis said, “The solution process should be concluded with success and hopefully it will be so.” Indicating that their determined and courageous stance on this issue was put forward clearly through the statements made by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Minister Bagis continued his words as follows:
“We should acknowledge one fact: we have been living side by side on these lands for years, we have not changed each other and we can’t. For centuries in this country, Alevis, Sunnis, Kurds, Armenians and Jews have lived together in tolerance and harmony. Anything contrary to this is out of the question. Taking each other as we are, we should give each other our blessings; opening a new page, we should concentrate on what we can do together for our country, how we can produce more and become more prosperous and what we can do to leave a brighter Turkey to our children.”
In response to a question regarding the leak to the press of some of the minutes alleged to have been held during the Imrali talks, Minister Bagis stated that the solution process disturbed domestic and foreign powers who don’t want Turkey to become stronger. Bagis continued his words as follows: “I think that the leak of these minutes is in fact a step taken against the solution process. They wanted to use these minutes as a weapon but it didn’t work. The game is over. Our nation has made its decision. Our nation wants to continue to live together. Our nation does not want this country to be divided.”
Minister Bagis visited the grave of Ahmet Kaya during his visit to Paris and expressed his opinions about the democratic stance of Ahmet Kaya and the process which led to his being obliged to live in France.
