OUR AIM IS FULL MEMBERSHIP

Meeting with Joost Lagendijk, the former member of the European Parliament for the Dutch Greens, at the Ortakoy Office of the Ministry for EU Affairs in Istanbul, the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that Turkey’s aim is to become an EU member state although there are some circles who have exploited its accession process.

Bagis continued as follows:

“Turkey has only one objective in its EU accession period; to become an EU member state as it has always been and will be. We do not expect much or less, but to be an EU member state. Turkey is not   such a country which will be content what it has and will accept it just because some political leaders in Europe, lacking in vision, has taken advantage of Turkey’s EU accession process during their election campaigns or just because it is a strong country. Turkey is a country which has established its goal, which does its best to have one of the leading economies of the world and a country which has achieved its goals. May God speed you!.”

In his speech, Bagis declared Joost Lagendijk as a friend of Turkey and thanked him.
