MOVIE PREMIER OF “SELAM”
Attending the gala of the feature movie “Selam” (Greeting), Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis stated that he was quite proud that Turkish schools abroad managed to earn Turkey new friends, allies and admirers.
The gala of the feature movie “Selam” (Greeting), which tells the stories of selfless teachers working at Turkish schools abroad was held at Trump Towers Cinemaximum Cinema in Istanbul.
Making a comment at the gala, noting that he was one of those who most visited Turkish schools abroad, Bagis said, “Turkish schools propagate the language, values and culture of this country all over the world. I sincerely thank the teachers building bridges of peace throughout the world and all the heros and heroines, particularly Mr. Fethullah Gulen who leads this service and inspires this movement of volunteers.”
Indicating that he was very happy to see the Turkish flag waving at the Turkish schools in almost every country he visited, Bagis said:
“The teachers mentioned in this movie lit a new torch for the world peace. Thanks to the Turkish schools abroad, this torch illuminated wider areas. All the beauties we witness kilometres away from our country on behalf of our language and culture are the fruits of great effort and hard work of privates of this service caravan - in other words, of our educators…
They have built new bridges of peace all over the world. Nonetheless, thank God they have shared the fruits of these efforts with this nation and country generously. Because their common feature was that they had a great love of Turkey, along with a great love of service. Actually, such a great patriotism and love of national flag could only explain the self-sacrifice shown by these people, working under -50 centigrade degrees extreme cold of Siberia and 50 centigrade degrees extreme hot of Sahara and leaving their loved ones, mothers, fathers, homes and lovers.
May God not let anyone put out this service torch and be pleased with those who illuminate the humanity with this torch.”
