MINISTER FOR EU AFFAIRS BAGIS ATTENDED THE CELEBERATIONS OF PEACE AND FREEDOM DAY IN TRNC

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis attended the celebrations to mark the 35th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation.

Under the framework of celebrations of the July 20 Peace and Freedom Day, a ceremony was held in Girne with the participations of TRNC President Talat, Parliament Speaker Hasan Bozer, Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu, the first President of TRNC Rauf Denktas, Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, AK Party Konya Deputy and Chief of Administration and Member of the Executive Board Orhan Erdem and an accompanying delegation, First Army Commander General Ergin Saygun, Turkey's Nicosia Ambassador Şakir Fakılı, the Commander of the Turkish Peace Forces in Cyprus Lieutenant General Hilmi Akın Zorlu, Turkish Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ertugrul Apakan, ministers, commanders and other officials.

In his speech, TRNC President Talat thanked the Turkish Republic's officials, the Turkish Armed Forces who have carried out the Peace Operation on July 20 and the Turkish people who supported the Turkish Cypriots in their struggle to exist and he commemorated the martyrs and veterans with mercy and gratitude.

Bagis also attended the dinner hosted by the TRNC President Talat on the occasion of the anniversary.Resource: AA
