JEAN MONNET SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED
As part of Turkey’s aim for European Union membership, the scholars who are qualified to make use of Jean Monnet Programme which is carried out to meet the vacancies for the staff knowledgeable with the EU Acquis have been announced.
Within this scope, Minister for European Union and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis made a statement and said: “Thanks to the recent efforts and with its increasing number of the scholars from the local, Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme has become an attractive programme for every employee, student and academician of the society. Our scholars will have great achievements in both public and private sector and in the academic world with their experience in the EU member states. The individual achievements of our scholars will be the achievements of our country”.
With the collaboration of the Ministry for European Union Affairs, Central Finance and Contracts Unit and Delegation of the European Union to Turkey and thanks to the effective implementation of the programme, the number of scholars has increased from 130 to 170 for 2013-2014 Academic Years. Now that a difficult evaluation process has finalized, the scholars will make much more contributions to the EU process of our country in the next term after they participate in the training programmes in certain EU member states. This year, 61 people from the public sector, 78 from the universities, and 31 from the private sector have been entitled to have the scholarship.
This year, the public institution with the highest number of scholars is the Ministry of Justice and most of the university students who are qualified to make use of the scholarship are from Galatasaray University. Bilkent University follows Galatasaray University. It is significant that there are 6 scholars from the universities in the other cities except the ones in Ankara and Istanbul. In the private sector, ISBANK has the highest number of scholars.
