JEAN MONNET SCHOLARSHIP AVAILABLE FOR 100 MORE STUDENTS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis invited young people to apply for the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme, who want to do graduate study on EU acquis.

In his written statement about this issue, Bagis noted that in every section of society, they need people following issues and being specialised on subjects related to the EU.

Bagis stating that human force trained in EU acquis was one of the most important priorities of Turkey in the negotiation process said the adoption of the EU legislation which covers all segments of communal living, was a process of radical change involving different sections of the society.

    Bagis noted these:

"Jean Monnet Scholarship is a special programme providing the education opportunity to Turkish youth in the EU member states and aiming to train EU specialists from every section of the society. In the direction of this goal, about 260 people consisting of civil servants, private sector representatives, college students, academicians, representatives of non-governmental organisations and local administration officials have the opportunity to specialise in EU related issues and served the country for 20 years and continue to do."

Indicating that within the scope of Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme for 2010-2011 Academic Years, 100 scholarships would be granted to people intending to be specialised in EU acquis and working at different sectors such as the public agencies, private companies, universities and non-governmental organizations, Bagis said "I invite young people from different sectors such as the public agencies, private companies, universities and NGOs and want to do graduate study on EU acquis to apply for the Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme the details of which are announced by the EU General Secretariat."

In the framework of full membership of the Turkish Republic to the EU, Jean Monnet Scholarship Programme aims to establish a required administrative capacity by supplying human force trained in EU acquis.
