INTERNAL COORDINATION AND HARMONIZATION COMMITTEE CONVENED
The 10th Internal Coordination and Harmonization Committee (IKUK) meeting, chaired by Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, was held in the Ministry for EU Affairs with the participation of EU permanent contact persons from public institutions.
Bagis delivered an opening speech at the meeting and indicated that there might be a perception that accession negotiations with the EU has stopped. “I would like to tell you with all my sincerity that our reform process continues more resolutely and decisively than ever, despite the obstacles in the negotiation process” said Bagis.
Indicating that, due to the eclipse of reason in the EU, some chapters in the negotiation process could not be closed although the closing criteria were met, Bagis said that those political barriers would be removed in the end and Turkey’s chapters would be opened one by one.
During the meeting, current situation on Turkey’s EU accession negotiations was evaluated and legislation works carried out within the framework of opening and closing criteria were discussed.
