G-20 SUMMIT MET

Within the framework of his US visit, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, State Minister Nazım Ekren, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ali Babacan and AK Party Vice-Chairman Egemen Bagis visited Washington and New York.

G-20 countries leaders and representatives of international financial institutions had met in Washington for a financial summit which aims to develop urgent solutions about global crisis. In the G-20 leaders summit, which still represents more than %80 of world gross product and of which Turkey is a member, Turkey was represented by the Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. In these closed sessions, they focused on the resolving of economic crisis in the world and how to study these topics closer.

Prime Minister Erdogan mentioned that a declaration was published in this summit and it indicated that they focused on the necessity of working to solve the economic crisis with global cooperation by this declaration.

Prime Minister Erdogan mentioned that they emphasized the need to cooperate and they insistently emphasized not to neglect the developing countries. Erdogan said that they further emphasized, besides the developing countries, it's necessary for world bank to support the underdeveloped countries, and the necessity of strengthen collectively the IMF and World Bank, and in such process, the necessity of supporting countries that have problems about liquidity.

Prime Minister continued: "In general, the messages given by the leaders centered in this direction. The situations of the banks about calling for credit and the point of banks SME subsidy are emphasized. Of course we know that the problems of many countries, the problems of this subject are approximately the same. So, it is emphasized that if financial sectors show more positive approach to these topics, it will be favorable.

We also have confirmed our opinions in this point. As soon as we return, we are going to meet with the actors of financial sector, and also we are going to be aiming to redesign the steps on this process as long as we negotiate with our team."
