EUSG'S OFFICE IN BRUSSELS WILL HAVE REMARKABLE BENEFITS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis pointed out that the Secretariat General for EU Affairs' (EUSG) office in Brussels which was being newly established, would contribute significantly to the EU Accession Process.

Participating in a TV program called "Kiosk" at Skyturk on 06 March 2011; Minister Bagis replied the questions on EU Accession Process. Touching upon EUSG's office in Brussels in reply to a question, Bagis expressed that the newly established office would have remarkable benefits in the long term.

Stating that a reorganization process was launched after the law on the Organisation and Functions of the Secretariat General for the EU Affairs had been enacted, Bagis said that EUSG should also have a representation office in Brussels where the negotiations were realised.

Bagis continued as follows:

"Our colleagues in the office in Brussels are following the negotiation process from different aspects, they are meeting with the representatives of the Commission, NGOs and the Parliament. They are both communicating Turkey to the EU and lobbying for Turkey's EU bid as a part of the communication strategy which has an important role in the EU Accession Process. Besides, they are taking on important tasks in order to express the determination of our country and the progress made concerning the negotiations. Moreover, they are keeping abreast of the negotiation processes of other countries and providing us information, giving us new ideas."
