EU PROCESS AND PERCEPTION SURVEY ON TURKEY-EU RELATIONS
In the statement made by the Ministry for EU Affairs, it was indicated that a new survey study would be launched which covered the personnel from different segments of the society working in the EU field, such as academicians, public employees, officers in local administrations, and representatives of non-governmental organizations.
It was also expressed that reflections of Turkey-EU relations at the local level and impacts of the projects financed within the scope of the EU Financial Assistance would be analyzed in the study planned to be carried out as a public opinion perception survey aiming a broad participation of approximately three thousand people which would consist of public employees, as well as representatives of local administrations, civil society and universities.
Regarding this issue, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said; “The perception survey which will be a continuation of the studies conducted at the local level since 2010 along with the “The European Union process starts at the local level” slogan will put forward both the current situation of Turkey-EU relations and the perceptions of different segments of the society regarding the EU. We will make use of the survey results to steer the studies related to Turkey’s EU membership process which are planned to be conducted by the Ministry for EU Affairs at the local level in the upcoming period.”
It was stated that the survey study would be financed by the Ministry for EU Affairs within the scope of “Building Capacity for EU Affairs in the Governorates” Project supported by the EU under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance.
