EGEMEN BAGIS THANKS TURKISH COMMUNITY IN FRANCE
Receiving Ahmet Ogras, the chairman of the Union of European Turkish Democrats’ office in France, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis thanked the Turkish Community in France for the efforts they made for Turkey.
Delivering a speech regarding the reception held at the Ortakoy Office of the Ministry for European Union Affairs, Bagis said, “They made a considerable effort. They struggled against an anti-Turkish mentality which made every effort to impede Turkey’s EU process. They defended Turkey and Turkey’s right to become an EU member and they achieved a good result. The French public sent an anti-Turkish politician to catch fish.”
Indicating that they hoped a new page will be opened in Turkish-French relations, Bagis said, “The talks which our President and Prime Minister held with Mr. Hollande were extremely positive. In the coming period, we will also seek opportunities of bringing these relations to a more proper level through the talks with our counterparts and working together on reasonable grounds on the basis of common interests of both Turkey and France.
Ahmet Ogras also stated that as Europeans of Turkish origin, they exerted all the necessary efforts. Noting that a new period had started, Ogras said, “People of Turkish origin will be active in this period. They will present the face and realities of Turkey in France. We will set the agenda. Turks in France woke up, they will do their duty.”
