EGEMEN BAGIS, MINISTER FOR EU AFFAIRS PAYS A VISIT TO GAZIOSMANPASA MUNICIPALITY
Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, paid a visit to Gaziosmanpasa Municipality.
Delivering a speech there, Bagis said that they welcomed every citizen without any discrimination and that Kadir Topbas, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor, and Erhan Erol, Mayor of the District, have achieved important developments in the last 5 years. Bagis added that they also expected Erhan Erol to serve to Gaziosmanpasa.
Bagis mentioned of the general view of Turkey and stated that while the banking sector went bankrupt in the world, Turkish banks were making profit and this situation could be shown as the best example of the world countries' beginning to trust Turkey.
Bagis stated that AKP voters didn't only elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan, about whom some people said he had lack of ability of governing even a village as their Prime Minister but they also made him "the voice of world's conscience". Bagis said: "There aren't many leaders in the world today who dares to say "the king is naked". But thank God one of the exceptional leaders who can directly say the right things in the right places, who can stand without becoming obstinate, is our Prime Minister."
Noting that Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had an astounding story of determination and patience, Bagis said Erdogan never got angry with his nation and was always patient and welcomed his citizens.
Arguing that the developments in Gaziosmanpasa couldn't be observed in Besiktas, Avcılar, Sisli and Bakırkoy, Bagis continued his speech as follows:
"They also claim they are municipality. I always say. I am a deputy from the region. Thus far Besiktas Mayor hasn't requested anything from me as a deputy from the region. If he had done, would I have turned my back on him because he is a member of another party? Would I have turned my back on thousands of people in Besiktas who pin their hopes on us? Never. Because the culture I come from necessitates provision of service to there. They thought they would secure themselves by building a wall around themselves. Wait and see, people of Besiktas will slap them across the face on 29 March in such a way that… People demand service in the local elections. AK Party municipalities provided service, others just advertised".
Bagis declared that Prime Minister Erdogan was going to attend his party's Istanbul meeting on 22 March.
