EGEMEN BAGIS MEETS WITH 81 GOVERNORS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis assessed the ongoing works and activities with the governors within the context of the last two years of “Provinces Preparing for the EU Project”. 

Minister Bagis joined the Governors' Meeting which was held under the auspieces of Ministry of Interior and he underlined the emphasis of EU process at local level.

In his speech, he highlighted the power of the economic prosperity in Turkey. He said that Turkey is no more a "poor country" although some European states use this argument as a political tool. Moreover, Turkey has a stronger economy comparing with 7-8 European states regarding their GDP’s.  He stated that visa issues also work itself out depending on Turkey’s economic development.

Bagis indicated that Turkey’s accesion process is in progress with Turkey’s ambition and self-confidence.
