DIGITAL BRIDGES PROJECT HAS BEEN PUBLICIZED

Speaking at the publicity meeting of the Digital Bridges Project held at the French Palace in Beyoglu, Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator, said: "Projects like the Digital Bridges Project, will eliminate the worries, doubts and fears between EU and Turkey.

Bagis stated that there were three pillars in the EU process and those were negotiations which they conducted despite political obstacles, reforms which they introduced with determination and dialogue and communication among the societies.

Stressing that people were usually worried by and wary of or even could be scared of the ones who they didn't know, Bagis noted that fear and suspicion would be eliminated as long as people got to know and understand each other.

Bagis continued his speech as follows:

"Projects like Digital Bridges Project are projects which will eliminate worries, doubts and fears between the EU and Turkish society through enabling us to understand one another and which will show us that the things which unite us are more in number than the things which divide us. Today this project which is jointly realized by and with cooperation of France, one of the founding members of the EU, Romania, one of the new members of the EU and Turkey, the negotiations of which are in progress will make it possible for our young people and societies to understand one another. Those are the same young people who will be in a positon to decide when Turkey concludes the negotiations. We know that this is the reason why the founding countries of the EU exert a lot of effort to train their young people. We see the outcomes of these efforts in the success of the EU which has become the most comprehensive peace project in the world history."

Egemen Bagis stressed that this association would enlarge the vision of not only Turkey but also the EU.

Olli Rehn, Member of the European Commission Responsible for Enlargement and Pierre Lellouche, Minister of France in charge of European Affairs also delivered speeches during the meeting and they emphasized that the project would enable two countries to better understand one another reciprocally.
