CREATIVITY OF TURKISH YOUTH WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE EU PROCESS

Informative meeting of the "Competition of Young Communicators on the Path to the EU " was held at the Istanbul Office of the Ministry for European Union Affairs under the auspices of  Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis. 

Making a speech at the meeting, Bagis mentioned that four main themes were determined for this year’s competition as “The common interests of the Turkey and the EU member states”, “The effects of Turkey’s EU membership to our daily lives and different social parts as a modernization project”, “The benefits of Turkish membership to the EU” and “The Reforms carried out in the EU accession process and EU funded projects” and he said “We are not in search of a praise instead we are waiting for creative ideas in these works . We expect that our young people appreciating or opposing to the EU process, the approach of the Turkish government and State in this process, the sensibility of the NGOs about this issue, will show their ideas with their works. The EU process is our common process.”

Bagis indicated that 50% of the EU Pre-Accession Assistance Funds was allocated to Turkey, and said “We will use almost 5 billion Euros between 2007-2013 in Turkey, we will realize this by ensuring that our citizens will not spend any money from their pockets. If the EU had not seen Turkey as a future member state, they wouldn’t have allocated these funds, and have given these chances and support to Turkey.”
