CHILDREN SEND COLORFUL MESSAGES TO EU
Turkish children are sending a "European Turkey" message to the European Union leaders through their drawings about the EU they dream of, under the project "Colorful Message from the Children to the EU" which was launched by the Secretariat General for European Union Affairs (EUSG) on the occasion of April 23rd, National Sovereignty and Children's Day.
"We attach great importance to the views and thoughts of our children about the EU, who are future of Turkey. It gives us hope that a conscious generation which is aware of EU is coming. On this special day, we are conveying our children's thoughts to Europe, which makes us proud," said Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator.
The Bilfen School students' drawings of their dreams and thoughts of the European Union will be conveyed with a colorful message to the EU on the 23rd of April via DHL Express. 30 drawings of Bilfen School students aged 13-16 will be sent to the President of the European Council, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Parliament Mr. Jerzy Buzek, Commissioner Responsible for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Mr. Stefan Füle and European Parliament "Friends of Turkey" President Mr. Alojz Peterle.
In the letter to be sent along the drawings, the students mentioned Turkey's acquisitions in its EU journey, and indicated that they wanted "an EU member Turkey".
