CARDONE STATED: "I WANT EUROPE TO CHANGE ITS POINT OF VIEW TOWARDS TURKEY"

Egemen Bagis, Minister for EU Affairs and the Chief Negotiator met with Nathalie Cardone, the French actress and the singer. After the meeting he pointed out that even though the politicians had sometimes different comments, according to the recent researches carried out in France, Bagis emphasized that the opposition towards Turkey in France reduced. He stressed that this was achieved by the courtesies of artists like Nathalie Cardone.

Indicating that he was aware that Cardone, one of the most loved artists in France, had good feelings for Turkey, Bagis said that he was really touched by her giving utterance to those feelings and her support for Turkeys membership to the EU.

Bagis, stating that he exchanged views with Cardone on Turkey's membership process to the EU, said: "Nathalie is an artist who really loves Turkey and appreciates Turkish people. As she expressed in our meeting, she believes that Turkey has a very significant role among Islamic and Oriental countries. She gives voice to such views at her concerts in France by every means."

Bagis, stating that Turkey's membership to the EU was an important message not only for 70 million Turkish people but also for the Islamic world, expressed that 6 million of 1.5 billion Muslims were living in France and there were 20 million Muslims in European countries.

Bagis said: "I would like to thank Cardone who, being aware of this issue of fact, shares her views with her fans and express them to politicians with a great courage."

Nathalie Cardone, expressing that she was hosted very well in Turkey, thanked for that and said she wanted Europe to change its point of view towards Turkey which brought diversity to Europe and from which they still had lots of things to learn."Resource: AA
