    BAGIS VISITS ROME

    Paying an official visit to Italy, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis firstly met with Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini under the framework of his Rome visit.

    Delivering a speech after his visit to Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bagis said "Italy will give full support to our attempts to remove EU member states visa requirements for Turkish nationals."

    Stating that issues regarding Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus were also addressed in the meeting, Bagis said "We also discussed the process regarding the launching of direct trade with Cyprus. Italy shares our thoughts that TRNC citizens were unfairly treated in the aftermath of the Annan Plan. They stated that Italy would give support for the removal of the embargoes as soon as possible."
