BAGIS REVIEWS CURRENT EVENTS ON HIS BULLETIN
In his evaluation included in his electronic bulletin which is published twice a month, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis emphasised the model of Turkey in the European Union process.
Bagis congratulated Mevlut Cavusoglu on his election as the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and said, "As a matter of fact, election of Mr. Cavusoglu to the presidency of an Assembly which represents 800 million citizens is an important message to everyone questioning whether Turkey is European or not and trying to show our country as if it is against European values."
Noting that Turkey was now more European than ever, Bagis indicated that it was confirmed once more that relations between Turkey and the EU had a historical, geographical and sociocultural basis which is beyond the 100 thousand page long EU Acquis Communautaire.
Bagis said: "The best response to the ones trying to erode away this background is the model of Turkey in which everyone is living with tolerance, justice and unity for centuries. Bagis also touched upon the issues related to the discussions about the Constitution and he emphasized that their greatest ambition was to promote the model of Turkey through obtaining a more visionary Constitution which 72 million Turkish citizens could claim as theirs.
Bagis reiterated his call to the opposition parties about the draft constitution that they could prepare.
Minister for EU affairs and the Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis shared in his bulletin the latest works he made as well.
