BAGIS MET WITH IRISH MINISTER DICK ROCHE
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis held a luncheon meeting with the members of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE) at the Konyalı Restaurant in Topkapı Palace, and then he met with Dick Roche, Irish Minister for European Union Affairs.
In the meeting, Roche stated that Ireland supported Turkey's EU process and invited Bagis to pay a visit to Ireland.
Bagis gave information about the EU process in the meeting with Liberal Democrat Members of the European Parliament.
Annemie Neyts Uyttebroeck, the leader of ALDE, expressed support for the Constitutional amendment works in Turkey and said that a more modern and liberal Constitution would accelerate Turkey's EU process.
In the meeting Egemen Bagis said Turkey was determined to improve the EU process and added that they considered this process as a modernization process which would serve to the interest of people at first.
"Turkey would get closer to the European Union as it attains a more modern and liberal Constitution and as it sustains the current economic growth" said Bagis.
Bagis added that Turkey had always taken side towards the solution on the ‘Cyprus issue' and had always been one step further about the solution.
Egemen Bagis also said that they expected the European Parliament's Reports on Turkey to be more balanced.
