BAGIS MAKES CONTACTS IN CROTIA
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis arrived in Crotia to attend the "Crotia 2009 Summit" and hold official contacts. Under the framework of his meetings in Dubrovnik, Bagis first met Gordan Jandrokoviçi the Crotian Foreign Minister.
Bagis also held bilateral talks with the Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, whose country holds the rotating EU presidency, and rediscussed Turkey's EU process.
Stating that the Swedish rotating presidency would determinedly work on that issue, Bildt said they would try their best especially to open the environment chapter.
Stating that they would also exert efforts to open education and culture chapters, Bildt expressed his country's support for Turkey's EU process. Minister Bagis conveyed to Crotia's new Prime Minister Jandranka Kosor Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's congratulations on her new post and his invitation to visit Turkey.
Delivering a speech at the "EU and NATO: The transformation of Southeastern Europe" session of the "Energy, Investment and Development" themed conference, Bagis also met Slovakia's Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajcak, Czech Minister for European Affairs Stefan Fule and Croatian State Secretary for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Bianca Matkovic.
