BAGİS HOSTS FAREWELL DİNNER FOR THE BRİTİSH AMBASSADOR HE PETER WESTMACOTT
Executives from the political, media and business world came together at the farewell dinner for the British Ambassador to Ankara, H.E. Sir Peter Westmacott and his spouse Ms. Susan Nemazee on September 21 at the Istanbul Modern. The dinner was hosted by Egemen Bagis and his wife Beyhan.
Guests from the political circles such as AK Party Vice Chairman Reha Denemeç and CHP Istanbul Deputy Zeynep Damla Gürel; from the business circles such as Bulent Eczacibasi, Remzi Gur, Ethem Sancak and Can Paker; and from the media esteemed names such as Ertugrul Ozkok, Mehmet Ali Birand, Sedat Ergin, Nuri Colakoglu and Murat Celik, attended the dinner.
Westmacott, whom Bagis mentioned in his opening speech as "The only Ambassador that could host a dinner at his residence for the Prime Minister and his family," had been working in Turkey for four and a half years. Bagis, who also emphasized the support that Westmacott provided for Turkey on December 17th 2004, and October 3rd 2005, the challenging days of EU talks, ended his words saying: "We render our heart-felt thanks to Peter and Sussie, whom some of the media members named as Turkey's EU spokesperson."
During his farewell speech Westmacott, expressed his contentment to have worked in Turkey, and concluded with conveying his appreciation to the guests and the Bagis's as their hosts.
