BAGIS ENCOURAGES TURKISH NATIONAL AGENCY'S COOPERATION WITH ACCREDITED ORGANIZATIONS
Delivering a speech at the meeting of Turkish Accreditation Agency (TURKAK) to develop cooperation with the accredited organizations, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis said that a successful competition in a contemporary world is possible through an effective accreditation system.
In the meeting held in Istanbul, Bagis stated that Turkish Accreditation Agency was an internationally accredited agency which deserves “ak” in its name meaning unblemished and whose reliability, competence and capacity were also internationally accepted Bagis said: “Long before Turkey’s becoming a candidate country to the EU, TURKAK was accepted as a full member to the European Cooperation for Accreditation in Copenhagen in 2002. In terms of relations with the EU, TURKAK is ahead of Turkey.” Bagis declared that TURKAK whose success had gone beyond the borders of Turkey had begun to receive and conclude accreditation applications from Central Asia, Balkan and Gulf States.
Bagis continued his speech as follows:
''Turkey has objectives such as becoming one of the top 10 economies of the world in 2023 and achieving the export target of 500 billion dollars. To this end, we have to establish a trust environment and accordingly, we want to discuss with you to enable Turkish goods become required and demanded all over the world, through accreditation.”
Bagis also mentioned halal food and said that there was no international standard regarding this. Bagis added: “In line with the previous proposals of TURKAK to establish an internationally accepted accreditation mechanism for halal food, and Accreditation Committee to which accreditation agencies of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation was established in April 2012. TURKAK was selected as the president of this Committee. Islamic countries also attach importance to Turkey’s leadership in this issue. ”
