BAGIS ACCOMPANIES ERDOGAN IN HIS VISIT TO FINLAND

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis was among the committee accompanying Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in his visit to Finland.

Within the framework of his visit to Finland Prime Minister, Erdogan met with the Finnish President Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi, President of the Finnish Council Sauli Vainamo Niinisto and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Stubb.

Minister of State and the Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Ak Party's Vice President Omer Celik, and the President of TGNA Turkey – Finland Friendship Group Mikail Arslan were among the committee accompanying Prime Minister Erdogan in his visit to Finland.

Reminding that the last high level visit to Finland was realized in 1978 by the former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, Erdogan stated that a visit to Finland at prime ministerial level hadn't been realized for 32 years.

Stating that Turkey and Finland were cooperating in many fields and that the views of the two countries were overlapping and Finland was always supporting Turkey's EU membership, Prime Minister Erdogan said that the foundations of friendship between the two countries were laid down in 1924 when the Treaty of Amity was signed and added that since that date the relations of the two countries developed on the basis of accord.
