BAĞCILAR BELEDİYESİ AK PARTİ GENÇLİK KOLLARI TOPLANTISI
Bagis gave a seminar on February 4th 2007, entitled "The Recent Developments in International Politics and the AK Party's Viewpoint" organized by the AK Party Bagcilar District Youth Wings at the Bagcilar People's Palace.
A high interest was shown to this seminar where Mr. Bagis spoke about Foreign Policy especially on EU relations, USA relations, relations with neighbors, Northern Iraq issue, Cyprus issues and other issues, Bagis also relied to questions from the floor. Bagis, contrary to critisisms to US as "supporting the PKK terror organization" defended that the US was one of the first countries to declare PKK as a terrorist organization. However, Bagis noted, that there were some US commanders that were influenced by Barzani, after the March 1st vote.
Answering a question on Turkey's Iraqi policy, Egemen Bagis underlined that Iraq's territorial integrity is very important for Turkey, adding: "The Turkomans in Iraq are our brothers. The Arabs in Iraq are our brothers. The Kurds are also our brothers. It is impossible for us to believe that one group is superior to the other. If there are clashes between these groups, this will lead to a civil war."
Commenting also on European Union membership process, Bagis noted that it is the Europeans hitting the brake, not the Turks.
The seminar began with slide presentations. At the end of the seminar Bagcilar Youth Wing President Alim Kocabey andForeign Affairs Unit President Mustafa Tekin each presented Mr. Bagis a plaque.District Youth Wing administration and some youngsters had their pictures taken with Mr. Bagis before the event ended.
