ASELSAN PRODUCED A NEXT GENERATION THERMAL CAMERA FOR BORDER SECURITY

Delivering a speech at the Delivery Ceremony of Fixed and Mobile Thermal Camera Systems organized at the Ankara Akyurt facilities of ASELSAN, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that the project was the first provision of equipment project funded by EU. Bagis indicated that ASELSAN became an institution which honored Turkey and the project was the result of the determined works among the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of National Defense and Ministry for EU Affairs.

Minister Bagis, stressing that the Ministry for EU Affairs gave a significant importance to the project since the EU membership required to access the security at the level of EU standards said “The security of a country with insecure borders will also be insecure.” Minister Bagis, reminding the sensitivity of EU in terms of the border security and indicating that the project would pave the way for the travel of Turkish citizens to Schengen region without visa, said “While we are trying to remove the borders, some twisted minds in Europe think that they will re-construct the Berlin Wall at the shore of Maritza. Actually, they will eventually see that their prejudice within their own neighborhood threaten their inner peace.”

At the end of the ceremony at which Ismet Yilmaz, Minister of National Defense, Muammer Guler, Minister for Interior, Necmettin Baykul, Chairman of Executive Board of ASELSAN and Bela Szombati, Deputy Head of Delegation delivered speeches, symbolic delivery plaques were presented.
