ANTI-COUP DEMONSTRATORS MASSACRED IN EGYPT

Stating that the attacks against the anti-coup demonstrators in Egypt were obviously violence and massacre, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, said, “Turkey, the same as it ever was, takes a stand against this massacre. Turkey will never change this stance even if it is left alone.”

Minister Bagis, replying the questions of press members in Ankara regarding the latest developments in Egypt, reminded that they had warned Western countries from the very beginning of the incidents and indicated that it was not possible to expect legitimate methods from those who have illegitimately overthrown an elected government.

Minister Bagis said “A regime which is doomed to the snipers will only riddle its people with bullets” and stressed that it was significant that those who raised their voices while criticizing Turkey’s democratic, principled and determined stance in relation to Egypt remained silence under this cruelty.

Stating that the incidents in Egypt were obviously violence and massacre, Minister Bagis continued his words as follows:

“Turkey, the same as it ever was, takes a stand against this massacre. Turkey will never change this stance, even if it is left alone. We have warned the Western countries, notably the EU, from the very beginning. Today, I am sure that they became aware of the rightness of these warnings, we hope they did. It is also important to be on the alert about the intentions of pulling the Muslim Brothers into the circle of armed struggle and violence. The Muslim Brothers will never be deceived. We believe and hope that the truth will beat the superstition. God shall be with those who act patiently.”
