ANKARA PREPARING FOR THE EU
First signatures were put for “Ankara Preparing for the EU Project” co-developed by the Ministry for EU Affairs, Ankara Governorship and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
The protocol signature ceremony of the project was held in Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Central Congress Hall with the participation of Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, Governor of Ankara Alaaddin Yuksel and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Melih Gokcek.
Delivering a speech at the signature ceremony, noting that with this occasion they once again cleared the way for the EU process which was considered the national cause from the capital Ankara, Bagis stated that the protocol was not a frame but just a start for the cooperation between Ankara Governorship and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality.
Indicating that the main power of Turkey was its democracy and the EU process which further strengthened that democracy every passing day, Bagis said, “Turkey has become a more transparent country thanks to the steps it has taken in the EU process.”
Within the scope of the project which is planned to last for 12 months, project preparation trainings and 11 thematic EU seminars will be organized for Ankara Governorship, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, district municipalities, district governorships, provincial directorates affiliated to the governorships and member institutions of Ankara Governorship EU Provincial Advisory and Steering Committee (EU PASC). The other activities in the programme include ensuring cooperation for the 9th of May European Day Activities which is going to be held in Ankara, visits to the successful ongoing and accomplished projects in Ankara, a project exhibition, a competition with prize for the target group and the publications such as “EU Supported Projects in Ankara Province” and “Basic EU Terms”.
