AK PARTY FOREIGN AFFAIRS DEPT. REGIONAL MEETINGS CONTINUE
The third of the AK Party regional meetings took place in Izmir, on February 2, 2008. The meeting took place after the grand opening of AK Party Izmir Headquarters Political Affairs Academy at Buca Tennis Club. AK Party Vice Chairman in charge of Foreign Affairs Mr. Egemen Bagis, AK Party Foreign Affairs Department Vice Chairmen, Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, MP of Antalya and Mr. Taha Aksoy, MP of Izmir, as well as AK Party Izmir Province Chairman Mr. Aydın Şengül and the surrounding city and province chairmen of AK Party attended the meeting.
In his speech during the meeting, Mr. Çavuşoğlu drew attention to the improvements on Cyprus after AK Party government took power. Mr. Taha Aksoy talked about AK Party's launch on Turkish and Muslim world.
AK Party Vice Chairman Mr. Egemen Bagis made a presentation on Turkish foreign policy and democratic launches. Bagis said that Turkey has made a big progress politically and economically and as AK Party always raises standards on its targets. Bagis also drew attention to the changing image of Turkey and underlined the importance of July 22nd elections and Referendum of October 21st. Bagis stated that, with AK Party's proactive foreign policy Turkey has become a regional power and it can't be isolated from the global improvements. Turkey has to be active in foreign policy in order to use its richness and with AK Party's understanding of these, in a short time global power scenarios have started to be written for Turkey.
