9TH INTERNATIONAL TURKISH OLYMPIADS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis welcomed a group of students participating in the 9th International Turkish Olympiads at his office and reiterated his support to the organization.

Minister Bagis awarded Shohrukh Yunusov for winning the Song Contest held on June 21. Bagis, together with Acting Secretary General Ambassador Haluk Ilıcak, received the delegation of students from Kenya, Tatarstan, Macedonia, Indonesia, Nigeria, Tajikistan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Afghanistan and Iraq at the Secretariat General for EU Affairs on June 24.

Indicating that those students honored our people, Bagis said ‘Just like how anyone in the world can learn English, French or German; we are proud to see that people wanting to learn Turkish gets a chance for it. We are not forcing anyone to learn Turkish. However, I consider those who want to learn and speak Turkish and seize the opportunity to use it in their working life, in civil society and in academic arena as lucky since Turkish is a language spoken by 200 million people all over the world.”
