EGEMEN BAGIS VISITS GREECE AND WESTERN THRACE
Within the framework of the official visit paid to Greece, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis made contacts in Athens, Thessaloniki, Komotini and Xanthi.
Bagis met with Dimitris Kurkulas, Greece’s Deputy Foreign Minister and after this meeting he made a speech on “cooperation in the region” in the conference “Mediterranean Luxury Travel Summit 2013”
Within the scope of this official visit, Bagis met with Olga Kefaloyanni, Greek Minister of Tourism and Development; Dimitrios Stamatis, Deputy Prime Minister and Dimitris Avramopulos, Minister of National Defence. Bagis stated that they exchanged views on the development of tourism between two countries and added that they requested a summit similar to Mediterrenean Luxury Travel Summit to be held in Istanbul. Bagis emphasized that he made positive contacts with the Greek Ministers regarding the opening of the halki seminary, mosque issue, mufti issue, the lifting of the visas and some other issues that are on the agenda in the bilateral relations.
In the second day of his visit, Bagis went to Thessaloniki, after visiting the consul general of Thessaloniki and the House of Atatürk, Bagis met with Theodoros Karaoglou, the Minister of Macedonia and Thrace and Yiannis Boutaris, Mayor of Thessaloniki.
In the last day of his program Bagis continued his contacts in Komotini. After paying a visit to İbrahim Serif, the mufti of Komotini, Bagis met with the cognates in the Turkish Youth Association of Komotini. Afterwards, Bagis went to Xanthi where he met with Ahmet Mete, the Mufti of İskeçe. Following this, he again visited the Turkish Youth Association of Xanthi.
