BAGIS POINTS TO DEEP CONNECTIONS REGARDING THE ILLEGAL DEMONSTRATIONS

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, who made a statement on the recent illegal demonstrations, indicated that the insidious plans of those who wished to pull Turkey into dark vistas would be doomed to fail and that problems are resolved through elections in democracies.
In his statement to members of the press during an official visit to Lithuania, Bagis stated that Turkey today was no longer the country that such persons could freely do as they pleased, but instead a country which manifested the will of the people.  Bagis said, “The imported ‘Gezi Scenario” must have been so well liked by such persons that they wished to stage it again.  However, the stage is not appropriate. Our people will not allow ‘Gezi’ to be staged again.”
Bagis pointed out that dark circles and their pawns aimed to incite the youth to go out into the streets remotely through these demonstrations, also directed the following questions at those who had recently turned the streets into war zones:
“Have the persons who turned the street into war zones on the basis of fabricated news apologized for the damages once the truth came out? Did the persons who have burnt and destroyed because they believed to have been mistreated feel ashamed once they realised that the reasons for their going out into the streets was fabricated nonsense? Above all, were the persons who revelled in and even used the death of one of their friends as cause for incitement ashamed as human beings?”
Bagis, who noted that Turkey needed generation that would take it not to the Dark Ages but to the Age of Knowledge, continued to say:
“An understanding of politics and news reporting that aims to bring the people face to face with their own security forces by dispersing lies is regrettable. First the Middle East Technical University, then Hatay, now Istanbul and Ankara.  Does this schema seem familiar to anyone? Pawns serving the mills of such powers should be aware that they are playing with fire.  Do you believe that if our state had been so weak as to fall with the slightest blow, could we have survived in these lands for a thousand years?
Bağış, who indicated that in democracies problems are resolved by elections and not in the streets, a fact that need to be acknowledged by some, also stated:
“We cannot allow anyone to mortgage the future of Turkey and its youth.  Our youth should not be fooled for even a moment and look to the streets for a solution. This has been lived through in the past.  False heroes seeking political gain through conflict between brothers wait hopefully for grim news. I must remind you that the response to such individuals will not be from the streets but from the elections.  Turkey is a country united with its population of 76 million people, Sunnis and Alawis, Turk and Kurd alike. In the forthcoming period, those who try to wear Turkey out with provocations should be aware that they will pay the price in the elections.”
