SWEDISH AMBASSADOR'S FAREWELL VISIT

Mr. Hakan Akesson, the Ambassador of Sweden in Ankara paid a farewell visit to the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis.

In the course of the visit which took place in the Ministry for EU Affairs, Bagis also mentioned his meeting with the Swedish Ambassador and said that Sweden is one of the countries Turkey feels itself closest to during the accession negotiations.

Bagis said: “Also a close friend of mine, Carl Bildt has enshrined our hearts as one of the politicians who has stood up against the bloodshed both in Syria and Egypt, especially over the recent days. I would like to extend my gratitude for the upright and courageous stance of Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs, before Mr. Ambassador."

Bagis also conveyed his thanks to Ambassador Akesson and said: "Although he leaves our country, I would like to underline that we will always welcome him”.
