MINISTER FOR EU AFFAIRS BAGIS, VISITED SIIRT PEOPLE ASSOCIATION SISLI BRANCH
Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, together with State Minister Murat Basesgioglu and AK Party Sisli Mayor Candidate Emin Haberdar, visited Siirt People Association Sisli Branch.
In the speech he gave during the visit, Bagis reminded as a person from Siirt that in the previous term Siirt enabled a person from the city to become a Prime Minister.
Bagis noted that AK Party came to power in 2002 winning 35 percent of the votes cast throughout Turkey, with a 25 percent share of the vote in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia. Bagis said that in 2007 AK Party received the vote of one out of two electors and that its average share of the vote in Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia rose to 57-60 percent.
Noting that the people of the region preferred the one who brings water to their villages and distributes books to their children free of charge to the one who exploits their identity, Bagis stated, "My people have understood that time has come to say 'stop' to those who exploit their identity".
Saying that Siirt people who live in Istanbul earned their living in this city, Bagis requested his townspeople to give preference to those who provide service to them on March 29.
Indicating in his speech that Turkey became a leader country in the world, Bagis stated this was due to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's 'Davos stance'.
Bagis said, "We have rendered great services in the last 7 years. The biggest investment of all that we made was in democracy and freedom of expression".
