BAGIS ACCOMPANIES PRESIDENT GUL IN HIS VISIT TO LATVIA AND LITHUANIA

Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis accompanied President Gül in his official visit to Latvia.

Minister for Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yıldırım also accompanied President Gül in his official visit to Riga, the capital of Latvia.

In the framework of the visit, a letter of goodwill was signed on cooperation in the area of transport and logistics between Minister Yıldırım and his counterpart in presence of President Gül and the President of Latvia Andris Berzins. In the joint press conference organized following the signature ceremony, the President of Latvia Berzins expressed Latvia’s full support to Turkey’s EU membership.

Accompanying President Gül who also met with Prime Minister of Latvia Valdis Dombrovskis, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics and Latvian Parliament Speaker Solvita Aboltina, Minister Bagis held a separate meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics.

Within the scope of the four-day official visit covering Latvia and Lithuania, President Gül then visited Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Minister Bagis also accompanied President Gül during his contacts in Vilnius.
