“A SETTLEMENT IN CYPRUS BASED ON EQUALITY”

Meeting with the members of the EU Harmonisation Commission of the parliament of the TRNC, Egemen Bagis made statements regarding the agenda.

Meeting with Özdil Nami, Hasan Taçoy, Teberrüken Ulucay, members of the Commission and Erhan Erçin, the Director of the EU Department of the Prime Ministry of the TRNC, Bagis stated that they would support any reconciliation of the administrations in Cyprus and added that until a comprehensive and permanent settlement could be achieved, Turkey would also be ready to provide support to intermediate solutions.

Referring also to the new leader in the Southern Greek Cypriot Administration, Bagis stated that Nikos Anastasiadis was elected as the new leader due to his stance supporting a settlement. Bagis said: “Everyone should be certain that Turkey would support any settlement based on political equality.”

Responding to the questions of the journalists, Bagis said: “The day when the aircrafts of the EU Member States are allowed to land in the Ercan Airport, Turkey will also be ready to open its airspace and sea ports to the aircrafts and ships of the Southern Greek Cypriot Administration.”
