FOOD SECURITY PROJECTS CONTINUE
The EU-supported “Tagging and Vaccination of Sheep and Goats” Project is still ongoing.
The project financed under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance is being carried out by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock. In his statement, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis indicated that many important reforms were being carried out regarding every area of life, especially food security within the scope of the efforts in the EU membership process, by adding that one of the most important examples of these reforms was the “Tagging and Vaccination of Sheep and Goats” Project as well as the activities performed in this respect. Bagis also emphasized that tagging of sheep and goats was the first chain in producing high standards of animal products, and thus decisive efforts during the membership process would continue with the aim of ensuring that people in Turkey consume safer, healthier and higher-quality products.
The activity within the scope of the project will be carried out in Serince Village of Şahinbey District in Gaziantep on 31 January 2013, with the participation of Deputy Minister for EU Affairs Dr. Alaattin Büyükkaya, Deputy Minister of Food Agriculture and Livestock Kutbettin Arzu and Deputy Minister of Family and Social Policies Aşkın Asan.
